US Movie Theater Owners Share Nationwide Safety Protocols

href=”//screencrush.com/author/claireepting/” rel=”author” title=”Claire Epting”>Claire EptingPublished: August 24, 2020Getty Images

As movie theaters nationwide gear up to reopen their doors for the first time in five months, the National Association of Theater Owners shared their list of safety protocols to curb the spread of Covid-19. Also known as CinemaSafe, the list of rules was revealed last Friday, just in time for Russell Crowe’s Unhinged. The road-rage thriller, which opens this weekend, is the first major movie release since the start of coronavirus.

As is expected, the rules require all patrons and employees to wear a mask at all times. Patrons are allowed to remove their masks to eat or drink, but must put them back on immediately afterwards. “In this new pandemic world, moviegoers need to know that there is a consistent, science and experience-based set of health and safety protocols in place no matter what theater they visit. This unprecedented industry-wide effort is a promise designed to meet that need," said NATO chief John Fithian at Friday’s press conference (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Along with mask-wearing, movie theaters will also be eliminating the use of communal food and condiments, as well as concessions that require shared serving utensils. Tickets will be through mobile devices whenever possible, and hand-sanitizing stations will be available throughout each theater. Employees will also receive in-depth health training and will be monitored throughout the reopening process.

More than 300 companies, which include over 2,600 locations and 30,000 screens, have signed in agreement of CinemaSafe. These cinemas may include a CinemaSafe badge on their websites, and eventually their physical locations. However, locations in Los Angeles and New York City remain dormant for now.

‘Tenet’ Gets Early Access Screenings on August 31

href=”//screencrush.com/author/claireepting/” rel=”author” title=”Claire Epting”>Claire EptingPublished: August 18, 2020Warner Bros.

Are you itching to see Christopher Nolan's upcoming thriller Tenet? Does September 3 just seem too far away? According to Deadline, Tenet will be coming to select cities starting August 31, three days before it hits theaters. The announcement was made by President of Warner Bros. Pictures Domestic Distribution Jeff Goldstein earlier this morning.

Said Goldstein: “Warner Bros. is proud to support our partners in exhibition as they reopen their doors. And there could be no better film to welcome audiences back to a true big-screen experience than Tenet.” While this sentiment may be true (Nolan’s newest offering does look epic), that doesn’t mean the country at large is ready to accommodate a blockbuster theatrical release just yet.

While many states have technically allowed movie theaters to reopen, plenty have opted to keep their doors shut. California Governor Gavin Newsom briefly approved the operation of movie theaters, but has since changed his mind. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo stated that movie theaters are too “high risk” to reopen, but ordered for the reopening of gyms on August 24. Typically, Hollywood and New York City are the cities that receive early access to buzzy movies. But this time around, odds are both California and New York will be sitting out of Tenet’s early release.

It’s worth noting that if you live near a Cinemark that’s offering “private watch parties” where you can rent out an auditorium for yourself and a bunch of friends for $99 (or more in some locations), Tenet appears to be one of the movies available in some locations on August 31. According to their website, you can book a private screening of Tenet on August 31 for $149, which sounds … like maybe the only good way to see this movie at present?

Cinemark

Canada, on the other hand, will be able to view Tenet as early as August 27. Lucky Canadians.

‘The Joker’ Was Spotted Jet Skiing New York City’s East River

href=”//screencrush.com/author/mattsinger/” rel=”author” title=”Matt Singer”>Matt SingerTwitter

Why so serious? The water’s fine!

Look, 2020 has been a very difficult decade. People need to let off steam somehow, and many of their favorite ways to do it — bars, restaurants, movie theaters — remain closed. So let’s not judge the outlets people use to express their frustrations. We’re all dealing with this crazy time in our own way.

Like, say this guy, who was spotted over the weekend jet skiing through New York City’s East River in full Joker costume and makeup:

Who knew Joaquin Phoenix was so good at jet skiing?!? That guy really gets so deep into his characters, it’s unbelievable.

First of all: I guess this settles once and for all where Gotham City is located. It’s New York! Second, the Joker tends to stick to land when he’s on his own, which makes me worried he’s teaming up with the Penguin on some kind of master crime spree. Stay vigilant, citizens.

Honestly, this isn’t really that much weirder than the usual level of weird in New York City in times that don’t involve global pandemics. I’ve never seen the Joker jet skiing the East River before, but if I was out for a jog and I saw this, I probably would just keep right on running without batting an eye. It’s New York! That said, if someone sees Bane taking a helicopter tour of the Hudson, I’m logging off forever.

‘Tenet’ Will Most Likely Be Pushed Back Again Due To COVID-19

href=”//screencrush.com/author/claireepting/” rel=”author” title=”Claire Epting”>Claire EptingWarner Bros. Pictures

Christopher Nolan’s upcoming sci fi thriller Tenet may not be getting the August release date we so hoped for. According to exhibition industry analyst Eric Handler via Variety, the likelihood of Tenet hitting theaters this summer is low due to the rise in new coronavirus cases in states such as Texas, Florida, and California. In addition, the “slowed reopening of the New York City economy” has negatively affected the moviegoing industry as a whole.

Tenet’s release has already been pushed back twice now, and Handler predicts that an announcement of a further delay is very likely. Disney’s Mulan is in the same boat, as both movies were slated to debut earlier in the summer. Unlike Trolls World Tour, which went straight to premium VOD, both of the aforementioned movies are holding out for a theatrical debut. Tenet was moved to August back in June, when America collectively thought that conditions would be trending positive by mid-to-late summer. As we’ve seen it play out, we now know that this pandemic is a much longer game.

The financial losses for movie theaters during the coronavirus pandemic have been brutal. Most theaters remain shuttered, while very few are barely squeaking by, relying on blockbusters such as Jaws and Jurassic Park to pull in meager audiences. Films that were released right before the outbreak, including The Invisible Man, have been making their rounds at the drive-in theater circuit. But for a big-ticket item like Nolan's Tenet, this setup simply won’t do. Handler imagines that movie theaters won't reopen until September “at the earliest.” And even when they do reopen, people most likely won’t be flocking to malls cineplexes right away. In this case, all Tenet can do is wait.

New York and Los Angeles Movie Theaters Plan to Reopen Next Month

href=”//screencrush.com/author/mattsinger/” rel=”author” title=”Matt Singer”>Matt SingerGetty Images

The Hollywood studios insist they will begin releasing blockbusters again in July. Right now Disney’s Mulan is the first scheduled to open, on July 24. One week later, Christopher Nolan’s new thriller Tenet is expected. In August, there’s Antebellum, The New Mutants, and Bill & Ted Face the Music. In September, there’s twice as many wide releases scheduled.

All of these movies need places to screen though, and in many parts of the country, theaters remain closed — and in many parts of the country, coronavirus cases are beginning to spike again as well. But according to The Hollywood Reporter, the United States’ biggest theater chains expect that theaters will be open in most places, including the country’s largest markets, New York City and Los Angeles.

Regal announced this week that “the majority” of its locations will be open two weeks before Mulan is set to premiere. Both Cinemark and AMC are operating a long a similar timetable — with similar safety protocols to try to limit guests’ potential exposure to coronavirus. Per THR, that should include New York and LA:

None of the circuits have announced specific plans for New York City and Los Angeles since they first need the go-ahead from local authorities, yet numerous sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that movie chains and Hollywood now believe cinemas there will be once again be allowed to welcome customers on July 10.

Okay, so the theaters will be open. We now approach a Field of Dreams-esque situation: If you open it, will they come?

In certain parts of the country, I imagine the answer will be “yes.” Will I go? Almost certainly not. I’m certainly not taking the subway or a bus — which is what I would need to visit almost any theater, even in Brooklyn. I’m trying to imagine a scenario where I would go see something like Tenet right now — even at a private screening for film critics. I suppose if it was in a location that wasn’t open to the public, with very limited and very socially distanced attendance, and I could get there somehow without public transportation, I might consider it. In a public scenario, where anyone could walk in off the street and buy a ticket? No way — particularly since none of these large multiplex chains have committed to forcing customers to wear masks while attending. (If customers wear masks, they can’t eat snacks. If they can’t eat snacks, they don’t buy snacks. If they don’t buy snacks, the theaters don’t make money.)

I would wager there are very few people on the planet who miss going to the theater more than I do. It’s more than three months since I was last in a theater; I literally cannot remember another time in my life where that was true. It suuuuuuucks being stuck at home. But it’s not worth risking actual death to watch any movie — and so far, all the evidence I have seen suggests that enclosed spaces where people spend prolonged times together are probably best avoided. Until someone proves otherwise, for me, it’s drive-ins or bust.

‘Wonder Woman 1984’ Postponed to Fall

href=”//screencrush.com/author/mattsinger/” rel=”author” title=”Matt Singer”>Matt SingerWarner Bros.

Remember six minutes ago when I wrote that with Tenet finally getting delayed (albeit only slightly, to July 31) “it seems possible that more delays are possible. Maybe a lot more delays.” Remember that?

So, yeah. That was right.

As Warner Bros. continues to adjust its release calendar, they’ve shifted back Wonder Woman 1984, the highly anticipated sequel to Patty Jenkins’ DC superhero movie. Originally slated to premiere on June 5, 2020 (last week!), it was already delayed once because of the coronavirus pandemic to August 14, 2020. But with Tenet now (hopefully) opening just two weeks before that, the studio is spreading out its tentpoles, and has now rescheduled Wonder Woman for October 2.

The news was announced via tweet — although the first version of this tweet (since deleted) included images of all these marquees with the date November 25, 2020 on them. Now everyone appears to be in agreement on October 2.

That doesn’t mean it will stay October 2 forever. Even as the country reopens, coronavirus cases are rising in many areas — and some areas that are seeing declining infections, like New York City, still aren’t open for business yet. Basically, until a big movie actually does begin screening in theaters, I’m going to remain skeptical about every single release date announcement. Wonder Woman could wind up coming out on November 25 after all. Or Tenet could. Or neither one could come out this year at all. Right now, we just don’t know.

Christopher Nolan’s ‘Tenet’ Gets Pushed Back

href=”//screencrush.com/author/mattsinger/” rel=”author” title=”Matt Singer”>Matt SingerMelinda Sue Gordon

For months, one 2020 movie after another postponed or canceled its theatrical release because of the coronavirus. Through it all, one film held fast: Christopher Nolan’s Tenet. It was always supposed to open in theaters on July 17, 2020, and that is exactly where it stayed. According to reports, Nolan wanted his movie to be the first to reopen theaters after the the threat of the coronavirus passed.

But the threat has not passed. And when the most recent Tenet trailer premiered online it ended with the language “Coming to Theaters” without specifying a date. With cases on the rise in many parts of the country, and with the New York City market still closed because of the pandemic, Warner Bros. today announced they were finally pushed Tenet back — from July 17 to July 31. According to Deadline, in the interim Warner Bros. will put a 10th anniversary print of Nolan’s Inception into theaters, which will include “a never-before-seen look at footage from Tenet.”

With Tenet finally moving, that means Disney’s Mulan is now the next major blockbuster on the release calendar; it’s scheduled to debut on July 24. But with Tenet — the film that seemed the most insistent on not getting pushed back — finally bowing to reality, it seems possible that more delays are ahead. Maybe a lot more delays.

Here’s the most recent trailer for Tenet:

‘The King of Staten Island’ Review: Pete Davidson Tells His Story

href=”//screencrush.com/author/mattsinger/” rel=”author” title=”Matt Singer”>Matt SingerUniversal

At times, Judd Apatow seems like less of a director than a cinematic truffle pig who sniffs out special talents and brings them to light. As a filmmaker, he’s been a conduit for comedians like Steve Carell, Seth Rogen, Amy Schumer, and now, with The King of Staten Island, Pete Davidson. These movies are rarely visually exciting; sometimes they’re painfully long. But I can’t think of any other director who’s made so many movies written by their stars, or who had such a knack for championing comedians and helping them to channel their voices.

In the case of Davidson, the voice he’s found here isn’t all that funny — by design. Instead, The King of Staten Island is a heavily autobiographical story about a guy who grew up fatherless in the outer boroughs of New York City after his firefighter father died on the job. The real Davidson’s father, Scott, died at the World Trade Center on 9/11; Pete’s character in The King of Staten Island, also named Scott, lost his dad during a particularly bad hotel fire. While Pete Davidson stumbled into a very successful career in comedy, the fictional Scott never got over his father’s death — and now lives a humble life as a 24-year-old stoner with no prospects, a bad attitude, and vague aspirations of maybe becoming a tattoo artist. He’s introduced over the opening credits driving his car along the BQE with his eyes closed. Like most of Scott’s endeavors, his suicide attempt is unsuccessful.

Those bleak early moments let the viewer know right off the bat that The King of Staten Island is not a conventional comedy, even with Apatow as its director and Davidson as his star and co-writer (with Dave Sirus). There are funny moments, but there are few out-and-out comedic setpieces; the humor appears out of honest and sometimes intense conversations. You won’t see Pete Davidson getting a wacky body hair wax (although he does at one point join a low-key fight club). For a lot of the movie you won’t really laugh at Scott at all— he’s so screwed up that he’s cruel to everyone, including his hard-working mom Margie (Marisa Tomei), and especially her new boyfriend Ray (Bill Burr), who also happens to be a firefighter.

Universal Pictures

It’s a little convenient for the movie that Margie’s new beau happens to be a firefighter, and that his profession can dredge up even more of the pain that Scott’s never gotten over. But Ray’s job also adds a whole crew of firefighters to The King of Staten Island, some of whom knew Scott’s dad, and the sequences with those men — including Jimmy Tatro, The Wire’s Domenick Lombardozzi, and a wonderful Steve Buscemi, who once worked as a New York City firefighter and knows a thing or two about grief — are the strongest in the picture. There’s a scene with all the firefighters sitting around a bar telling the unvarnished truth about Scott’s dad that’s spectacular; tough, emotional, and organically funny. And it’s just a bunch of guys sitting and shooting the breeze. Again, Apatow serves as an effective conduit for these voices.

I don’t watch Saturday Night Live as much as I used to, and I haven’t seen a lot of Davidson on the show. He seems to draw a lot of attention, and not all of it positive — maybe because he joined the cast as a young man (he’s still only 26) and has already been phenomenally successful. On the basis of The King of Staten Island, I couldn’t tell you if he could carry a whole movie that wasn’t about his own life – but he definitely carries this one. And he does it with absolutely no fear of looking vulnerable or downright s—y. For most of the film, Scott is a complete a-hole. Whatever his valid reasons for being an a-hole, he also seems totally committed to resisting any positive change in his life, at least until Ray and the firefighters offer him some assistance during a very bleak time.

Universal

That’s another Apatow strength. He knows how to keep characters likable even when they do unlikeable things. The length of his movies — he loves to make comedies over two hours — might have something to do with it. He likes to stick with underachievers, and chart their incremental growth over a period of time. There are no easy fixes in the Apatow Cinematic Universe. His characters make messes of things and then Apatow sticks around to watch them do the work of cleaning things up. You get the feeling he really cares about the people in these movies. They rarely have villains; even guys like Ray, who often makes Scott’s life miserable, have very valid points of view and motivations. (If anything, Scott is the villain of The King of Staten Island, as well as its hero.) That sort of pervasive empathy is welcome right now.

At 137 minutes, The King of Staten Island is a long movie, but not too long. I never got bored or wanted Apatow to wrap things up. If anything I wanted to spend more time with some of the supporting characters, particularly Bel Powley as Scott’s longtime friend (turned occasional hookup partner) Kelsey. Admittedly, some of that may have been that this was a film set in New York City in the distant past when you could do things like go to bars or Staten Island Yankee games, or shake a stranger’s hand when you meet them for the first time. Scott’s clumsy journey towards adulthood captures a little bit of this city’s wounded but resilient spirit. The people here screw up, sometimes badly. But they eventually set it right.

How to Solve the ‘Die Hard With a Vengeance‘ Jug Problem

href=”//screencrush.com/author/mattsinger/” rel=”author” title=”Matt Singer”>Matt SingerFox

On May 19, 1995, a blockbuster did something no action movie had ever done before:

It made viewers think about math.

The movie was Die Hard With a Vengeance. Where the first two Die Hards had trapped Bruce Willis’ John McClane inside single locations with a bunch of terrorists, With a Vengeance pitted him against master bad guy Simon Gruber (Jeremy Irons), who wants revenge for the time McClane threw his brother off a skyscraper. To get it, Simon sends McClane on a wild goose chase through Manhattan. Simon — who likes to preface his riddles and games with a sinister “Simon says!” — stages a series of impossible tasks McClane must accomplish in order to prevent a series of bombs from exploding around New York City.

The one Simon Says game everyone remembers from Die Hard With a Vengeance is also the simplest. For some reason, in a movie that involves wild car chases, Jeremy Irons’ German accent, and Bruce Willis dangling from the top of a moving subway car, this is the thing in it that everyone talks about. For 25 years, Die Hard fans have tried to solve … the jug problem.

Here is how Simon puts it to McClane and his unwilling partner, a Harlem shopkeeper named Zeus (Samuel L. Jackson):

On the fountain, there should be two jugs: A five-gallon and a three-gallon. Fill one of the jugs with exactly four gallons of water and place it on the scale and the timer will stop. You must be precise; one ounce or more less will result in detonation.

Here’s the entire scene from the film:

I know less than nothing about math, but I’m going to assume this is a very old brain teaser. In the film, director John McTiernan doesn’t show the actual solution — he cuts away from McClane and Zeus and when he cuts back they’ve basically figured it all out.

In 1995, this drove me absolutely crazy: How could they make a math problem a major plot point and not explain how to solve it? I kept thinking about the jugs after I got home from the theater. I spent hours trying to solve it. (Again: I know less than nothing about math.) I couldn’t get it out of my mind.

Now I recognize McTiernan’s genius in that decision. By not showing the solution, he kept me thinking about that scene — and all that time thinking about the five-gallon jug and the three-gallon jug is precisely why I remember them now, 25 years later. It was like a cinematic mnemonic device.

Assuming you’re not sitting next to an explosive device that will explode in five minutes, and you’re not as bad at math as I was in eighth grade, it’s actually not a difficult problem. Here’s the solution:

  • Fill the five-gallon jug.
  • Fill the three-gallon jug with the water from the five-gallon jug, which now contains two gallons of water.
  • Empty the three-gallon jug, then pour the two gallons from the five-gallon jug into it.
  • Fill the five-gallon jug again.
  • Pour the five-gallon jug into the three-gallon jug until it is filled. The three-gallon jug already had two gallons in it, so the one additional gallon leaves four gallons in the five-gallon jug.
  • Congratulations, you have beaten Simon’s problem! Unfortunately while you figured it out, he stole a giant pile of gold bricks. Happy 25th anniversary to Die Hard With a Vengeance, and to folks who love a little math with their explosions and chase scenes.

    VERITE – When you’re gone

    Sitting in depression
    Always carving me irreverent
If I pray the wayward lesson
But your mouth can do it better
Then some god who don’t speak

    Fucking up my language
Make some words, we’re never fading
If you stay, say you’ll save me
You can take it all away
When you leave I’ll feel the same

I don’t mind you leaving when the damage is done
And I don’t mind, I feel the same when you’re gone

‘Cause once your loss, once your lies
I don’t wanna be here anymore, anymore
There’s no difference here for when you’re gone, when you’re gone
I’m not crawling on my knees to keep you here

‘Cause once your loss, once your lies
I don’t wanna be here anymore, anymore
There’s no difference here for when you’re gone, when you’re gone
I’m not crawling on my knees to keep you here

Baby take me back to New York City
Where the stars don’t ever see me
I can hide under the scenery of a saturated sky
    Just some conjugated meaning
Watch the light drip down your face
And when you’ll leave I’ll feel the same

I don’t mind you leaving when the damage is done
And I don’t mind, I feel the same when you’re gone

Bring that Hilfiger back and I’m jiggy though
Niggas know I’m hot but they envy though
Oh well, at least my bitch is with me ho
This her favorite song, this her favorite song (OOOUUU)
She get in her Birk when they put this on
    Owww, that’s the thot call

My guys don’t talk, they just pop off
If a thot tryna front, she’ll get dropped off
My homie Sav in that Porsche with the top off
I’m in that Audi with some slippers and some socks on
Doin’ 95 just to piss a cop off
Then I pull up to your hood and piss your block off (skrt skrt)
Bitch I got that hot sauce
So NY with these Timbs on
And shoutout to the girls who don’t wear sew-ins
Cause it’s all about my bitches with the wigs on, OOOUUU
You don’t got no hot sauce
You are not hot, you a knockoff
Fuck around boy and get your top knocked off

Them Redlyfe niggas got that hot sauce

Ricky Martin – Livin’ La Vida Loca

    She’s into superstitions
    Black cats and voodoo dolls
    I feel a premonition
That girl’s gonna make me fall
    She’s into new sensation
    New kicks in the candlelight
    She’s got a new addiction
    For every day and night
    She’ll make you take your
Clothes off and go dancing in the rain
She’ll make you live her crazy life
But she’ll take away your pain
Like a bullet to your brain

    Upside inside out
    She’s livin’ la vida loca
She’ll push and pull you down
    Livin’ la vida loca
    Her lips are devil red
And her skin’s the color of mocha
    She will wear you out
    Livin’ la vida loca
    She’s livin la vida loca

Woke up in New York City
    In a funky cheap hotel
    She took my heart
    And she took my money
She must’ve slipped me a sleepin’ pill
    She never drinks the water
    And makes you order
    French champagne
Once you’ve has a taste of her
    You’ll never be the same
Yeah, she’ll make you go insane

    Upside inside out
    She’s livin’ la vida loca
She’ll push and pull you down
    Livin’ la vida loca
    Her lips are devil red
And her skin’s the color of mocha
    She will wear you out
    Livin’ la vida loca
    She’s livin la vida loca

    She’ll make you take your
Clothes off and go dancing in the rain
She’ll make you live her crazy life
    Until you go insane
No, you’ll never be the same

    Upside inside out
    She’s livin’ la vida loca
She’ll push and pull you down
    Livin’ la vida loca
    Her lips are devil red
And her skin’s the color of mocha
    She will wear you out
    Livin’ la vida loca
    Livin’ la vida loca
    Livin’ la vida loca
    Livin’ la vida loca

    Upside inside out
    She’s livin’ la vida loca
She’ll push and pull you down
    Livin’ la vida loca
    Her lips are devil red
And her skin’s the color of mocha
    She will wear you out
    Livin’ la vida loca
    Livin’ la vida loca
    Livin’ la vida loca
    Livin’ la vida loca

    Pitbull – International Love

    You can’t catch me boy
I am overseas at about a hundred Gs for sure
Don’t test me boy (don’t test me boy) ’cause I rap with the best
Fo’ sho three oh five to the death of me
Cremate my body let the ocean have what’s left of me
But for now forget about that
Blow the whistle, baby you’re the referee

You put it down like New York City
I never sleep wild like Los Angeles
My fantasy hotter than Miami I feel the heat
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love

    I don’t play football
But I’ve touched down everywhere (everywhere?) everywhere
    I don’t play baseball
But I’ve hit a home run everywhere everywhere
I’ve been to countries and cities I can’t pronounce
And the places on the globe I didn’t know existed
In Romania she pulled me to the side
And told me Pit you can have me and my sister
In Lebanon yeah the women the bomb
And in Greece you guessed it the women are sweet
    Been all around the world
But I ain’t gonna lie there’s nothing like Miami’s heat

You put it down like New York City
I never sleep wild like Los Angeles
My fantasy hotter than Miami I feel the heat
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love

Down in DR they’re looking for visa’s
I Ain’t taking credit cards if you know what I mean
En cuba la cosa esta dura
But the woman get down, if you know what I mean
En Colombia the women got everything done, but they’re
Some of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen
In Brazil they’re freaky with big ol’ boobs
And their thongs, blue yellow and green
En L.A. tengo la Mexicana, en New York tengo la boricua
Besitos para todas las mujeres en Venezuela, muah
    Y en Miami tengo cualquiera

You put it down like New York City
I never sleep wild like Los Angeles
My fantasy hotter than Miami I feel the heat
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love

There’s not a place that your love don’t affect me baby
    So don’t ever change
I crossed the globe when I’m with you baby, hey

You put it down like New York City
I never sleep wild like Los Angeles
My fantasy hotter than Miami I feel the heat
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love

You put it down like New York City
I never sleep wild like Los Angeles
My fantasy hotter than Miami I feel the heat
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love

    You’re international, so international
    You’re international, so international
    You’re international, so international
Whoa whoa oh whoa whoa oh, international love
Whoa whoa oh whoa whoa oh, international love

Rucker game attender; with the Bent parked
On the sidewalk with the temp plates on the fender
I ain’t hard to find you catch me front and center
At the Knick game, big chain in all my splendor
Next to Spike if you pan left to right
I own Madison Square, catch me at the fight
But damn once again if you pan left at the ice
It be the man that write checks with the hand that don’t write
I go off the head when I’m rambling on the mic
And I go off the feds when I’m scrambling at night
And it was often said I brought hammers to the fight
But we from New York City, right Cam? (Ya damn right)

We still bangin’, we never lost power, tell em

Now that’s danger, there’s nothing left to say but
Welcome to New York City, welcome to New York City

Yo, there’s a war goin’ on outside no man is safe from
It don’t matter if you three feet or eight-one
You’ll get eight from the nine and straight blown
Wig split, melon cracked, all that on day one
Carry eight guns, two in the trunk
Two in the waist, two in the ankle, two to just spank you
You get jammed with them jammers, blammed with them blammers
Hot here, ask Mase he ran to Atlanta
Think you know what life do, minks on the motor-cycle
Trinkets they so delightful, blinging with so much ice fool
In front of Sparks body Castellano
Block away watch by Gotti and Gravano
It’s la cosra nostra, someone close approach ya
They’ll toast ya: gopher, bread loafer, your chauffeur
Old coke they raise up and snort, blaze up ya fort

    Coverage at Centre Street
    Got Brafman defendin’ me
Cause New York’ll miss me if I’m locked in the penitentiary
The judge said "Is this that thug, from the Kit-Kat club?"
But I got enough chips stacked up to make the bitch back up
Killa, I pinch that button, I grip that snub to hit that thug
Lay up in a pitch black tub
You lookin’ at rich black thugs to get that love
And we won’t stop til I get back Blood
    Holla at em Hov

Hold on me – Mozzy feat. G-Eazy lyrics

Lyrics Mozzy – Hold on me

Shawty trynna throw it back all night
She know I got the plug for the right price
Pull up in the whip ..
I’m ten hoes deep in the ..
I think the money really got a hold on me
I think the money really got a hold on me
I think the money really got a hold on me
I think the moola really got a hold on me.

    Yeah
I’m livin’ life like we ain’t promised tomorrow
Lotta dope smoked, lotta lotta gelato
Hundred band dance like niggas just hit the lotto
Got a greasy kid just to get in the condo
Backhand a b*tch for tryna bilk me with a condom
I can tell that you ain’t a gansta blood goofy with the ..
.., fifty thousand in diamonds just on my mama
Cautious when approaching a problem ..
You ain’t ’bout a comma, then we ain’t nothing in common
If you ain’t ’bout a comma, then we ain’t nothing in common
Still .. with expired tags on it
.. whatever you had on it, yeah
I fell off but baby I’m back on it, yeah
I fell off but baby I’m back on it
I really think the money got a hold on me
I’m tryna convince her that she should hold for me.

Shawty tryna throw it back all night
She know I got the plug for the right price
Pull up in the whip ..
I’m ten hoes deep in the ..
I think the money really got a hold on me
I think the money really got a hold on me
I think the money really got a hold on me
I think the mula really got a hold on meee.

I think the money really got a hold on me
I followed the code OGs told to me
And the game was given, it wasn’t sold to me
These hoes give it up to me because they owe it to me
I came up fully, I’m in a different bracket
Five bands for the leather, I’m in a different jacket
Money tall as Shaquille, I just been tryna stack it
Play me the beat and I kill, I’m trying to attack it
This game is too easy, I do this sh*t in my sleep
New York City, we mobbin’, I hit the club twenty deep
Cashin’ out when I feel like, Gerald never been cheap
It’s not that serious fam, I swear it isn’t that deep, uh
I swear it was perfect timing
If you ain’t ’bout a comma, then we ain’t nothing in common
The homies in black hoodies and beanies, they hella mobby
From Sac to the Bay, yeah you know that I f*ck with Mozzy
    Ehhhh.

Shawty tryna throw it back all night
She know I got the plug for the right price
Pull up in the whip ..
I’m ten hoes deep in the ..
I think the money really got a hold on me
I think the money really got a hold on me
I think the money really got a hold on me
I think the moola really got a hold on me.

Yeah I think this money really got a hold on me
Niggas can’t get a hold on me
Now them niggas talk low on me
f*ck .. what you change, used to be broke homie
    Now I’m bossed up, Louis V., ..
Ferragamo, Benihana, every night I’m bossed up
My lifestyle awesome, this is how it ‘posed to be
I don’t believe in luck, my blessings really got a hold on me
Money ain’t controllin’ me, but money is controllin’ me
The money .. I get the green
Devils get up off of me, help me get them off of me
I call these hoes, sluts and b*tches, and I drink up all of it
My mama said don’t let the money make your head bigger
    I’m cocky as f*ck and I don’t f*ck with niggas
And I don’t trust these b*tches, ever since the word ‘gold digger’
My homie fell in love, I told him “No nigga, no nigga”.

Shawty tryna throw it back all night (but he ain’t listen)
She know I got the plug for the right price (ohhh)
Pull up in the whip ..
I’m ten hoes deep in the ..
I think the money really got a hold on meee
I think the money really got a hold on me (this money nigga)
I think the money really got a hold on me (sh*t will f*ck up your life, but it’s nice)
I think the mula really got a hold on meee.

Joel Adams – Die For You

    [Verse 1]
    I wish I was a movie star
    That ain’t happening
I wish I’d drive a fancy car (no)
Well I’d fly to New York City
But my plane could never get that far
‘Cause my life ain’t what I thought it was
Said you like all the fancy things
    Diamonds, Pearls, and Louis Vuitton
But my package just ain’t that big (no)
    Spent all my life-time running
But I still haven’t got that far

    [Chorus]
For you I ain’t giving up
Cause baby I’d die for you
I’d try for you, I’d live for you
    You were all I do
Baby I’d die for you, I tried
    You’re everything I do
Baby that’s just not good enough for you

    [Verse 2]
You think you got the best of me
    Yeah well you’re probably right
But you ain’t seen the rest of me (no)
    Spent all my life-time running
But I still haven’t got that far

    [Chorus]
For you I ain’t giving up
Cause baby I’d die for you
I’d try for you, I’d live for you
    You were all I do
Baby I’d die for you, I tried
    You’re everything I do
Baby that’s just not good enough for you

    [Bridge]
‘Cause maybe I’m right, maybe I’m wrong
Maybe I wrote in all down in a song
You say what you like, I say what I want
You give me a list that goes on and on
But everytime you walk out that door
You got me thinking, baby now I want you even more
So say what you like, I’ll say what I want
I need somebody to save me

    [Chorus]
Cause baby I’d die for you
I’d try for you, I’d live for you
    You were all I do
Baby I’d die for you, I tried
    You’re everything I do
    ‘Cause baby I’d
Cause baby I’d die for you
I’d try for you, I’d live for you
    You were all I do
Baby I’d die for you, and I tried
    You’re everything I do
Baby that’s just not good enough for you

I ain’t with the buggin’ when I come through
She know I’m straight thuggin’ when I come through
Tell me what’s love, when I need that

Walk oh how the fuck you got in those jeans
I just wanna touch ya, fuck ya OD
Know you got a man but this is lowkey

    [Hook: Tory Lanez]
What’s love, got to do, got to do with it, babe
(what’s love, what’s love, what’s love if you got it for me babe)
What’s love, it’s about us, it’s about trust, babe
(we’re supposed to be about each other)
What’s love, got to do, got to do with it, babe
(what’s love, what’s love, what’s love if you got it for me babe)
What’s love, it should be about us, it should be about trust babe
(we’re supposed to be about each other)

    [Verse 2: Nyce]
And I got two different girls on me
It ain’t easy, to get em off me
‘Cause I pull up in that light foreign
Shawty you see me, you can’t ignore it
I ain’t fucking with you dumb broads, got my dawgs, get em off

What’s love got to do with it
I could show you just what to do with it
Come through, I’ma let you get it
And you know what I do with..

    Taylor Swift – Riptide Lyrics

I was scared of dentists and the dark
I was scared of pretty girls and starting conversations
Oh, all my friends are turning green
You’re the magician’s assistant in their dreams

    Oh, and they come unstuck

Lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you’re singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat because
You’re gonna sing the words wrong

There’s this movie that I think you’ll like
This guy decides to quit his job and heads to New York City
    This cowboy’s running from himself
And she’s been living on the highest shelf

    Oh, and they come unstuck

Lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you’re singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat because
You’re gonna sing the words wrong

I just wanna, I just wanna know
If you’re gonna, if you’re gonna stay
I just gotta, I just gotta know
I can’t have it, I can’t have it any other way
I swear she’s destined for the screen
Closest thing to Michelle Pfeiffer that you’ve ever seen, oh

Lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you’re singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat because
You’re gonna sing the words wrong

Oh lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you’re singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat because
You’re gonna sing the words wrong

Oh lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you’re singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat because
You’re gonna sing the words wrong
I got a lump in my throat because you’re gonna sing the words wrong

Mako – North Dakota (Hourglass Album)

    [Verse 1]
I think that I’d love North Dakota
I saw it once inside a magazine
Get this chip up off of my shoulder
Settle down somewhere the grass is green

    [Pre-Chorus]
‘Cause California dreams has too many sleepless nights
I wanna feel the earth beneath my feet
Been searching for relief from all these city lights
I just need a place to let me be

    [Chorus]
    Let me be free
    Let me be whole again
    Let me be me
    Let me take hold again
    Let me be free
    Let me be free

    [Verse 2]
I took a ride in New York City
But, it was too much cocaine and the girls ain’t cheap
I had to get out before it killed me
Running good ain’t running at that speed

    [Pre-Chorus]
‘Cause California dreams has too many sleepless nights
I wanna feel the earth beneath my feet
Been searching for relief from all these city lights
I just need a place to let me be

    [Chorus]
    Let me be free
    Let me be whole again
    Let me be me
    Let me take hold again
    Let me be free
    Let me be free

    [Chorus]
    Let me be free
    Let me be whole again
    Let me be me
    Let me take hold again
    Let me be free
    Let me be whole again
    Let me be me
    Let me take hold again
    Let me be free
    Let me be free

    SIA – Satisfied lyrics

    A toast to the groom!
(to the groom, to the groom, to the groom)
    To the bride!
(to the bride, to the bride, to the bride)
    From your sister
    (Angelica, Angelica, Angelica)
Who is always by your side
(by your side, by your side)
To your union and the hope that you provide
    (you provide, you provide)
    May you always (always)
    Be satisfied (Rewind)

    Rewind!
    Rewind!
I remember that night, I just might
I remember that night, I just might
I remember that night, I remember that—

I remember that night, I just might
Regret that night for the rest of my days
    I remember those soldier boys
Tripping over themselves to win our praise
    I remember that dreamlike candlelight
Like a dream that you can’t quite place
But Alexander, I’ll never forget the first
    Time I saw your face

I have never been the same
Intelligent eyes in a hunger-pang frame
    And when you said “Hi,”
    I forgot my dang name
Set my heart aflame, ev’ry part aflame
    This is not a game…

You strike me as a woman who has never been satisfied
I’m sure I don’t know what you mean, you forget yourself
You’re like me, I’ve never been satisfied
    Is that right?
    I have never been satisfied
    My name’s Angelica Schuyler
    Alexander Hamilton
    Where’s your fam’ly from?
    Unimportant, there’s a million things I haven’t done
Just you wait, just you wait…

    So so so—
So this is what it feels like to match wits
With someone at your level! What the hell is the catch? It’s
The feeling of freedom, of seein’ the light
It’s Ben Franklin with a key and a kite! You see it, right?
The conversation lasted two minutes, maybe three minutes
Ev’rything we said in total agreement, it’s
    A dream and it’s a bit of a dance
    A bit of a posture, it’s a bit of a stance
    He’s a bit of a flirt, but I’m ‘a give him a chance
I asked about his fam’ly, did you see his answer?
His hands started fidgeting, he looked askance
He’s penniless, he’s flying by the seat of his pants

Handsome, boy, does he know it!
Peach fuzz, and he can’t even grow it!
I wanna take him far away from this place
Then I turn and see my sister’s face and she is

    Helpless
    And I know she is
    Helpless
    And her eyes are just
    Helpless
And I realize three fundamental truths at the exact same time

I’m a girl in a world in which
My only job is to marry rich
My father has no sons so I’m the one
Who has to social climb for one
Cause I’m the oldest and the wittiest and the gossip in
    New York City is insidious
    And Alexander is penniless
Ha! That doesn’t mean I want him any less

(doesn’t mean I want him any less)
(doesn’t mean I want him any less)
(doesn’t mean I want him any less)

He’s after me ’cause I’m a Schuyler sister
    That elevates his status, I’d
Have to be naïve to set that aside
Maybe that is why I introduce him to Eliza
    Now that’s his bride
Nice going, Angelica, he was right
    You will never be satisfied

    (I will never be satisfied)
    (I will never be satisfied)

I know my sister like I know my own mind
You will never find anyone as trusting or as kind
If I tell her that I love him she’d be silently resigned
    He’d be mine
    She would say, “I’m fine”
    But she’d be lying

But when I fantasize at night
    It’s Alexander’s eyes
As I romanticize what might have been
If I hadn’t sized him up so quickly
At least my dear Eliza’s his wife
At least I keep his eyes in my life…

    To the groom!
(to the groom, to the groom, to the groom)
    To the bride!
(to the bride, to the bride, to the bride)
    From your sister
    (Angelica, Angelica, Angelica)
Who is always by your side
(by your side, by your side)
To your union and the hope that you provide
    (you provide, you provide)
    May you always
    Be satisfied

    And I know (yeah)
She’ll be happy as his bride
    And I know
    He will never be satisfied
    I will never be satisfied…

Stevie Wonder – Livin For The City

A boy is born in hard time Mississippi
Surrounded by four walls that ain’t so pretty
His parents give him love and affection
To keep him strong moving in the right direction
Living just enough, just enough for the city

His father works some days for fourteen hours
And you can bet he barely makes a dollar
His mother goes to scrub the floors for many
And you’d best believe she hardly gets a penny
Living just enough, just enough for the city yeah

His sister’s black but she is sho ’nuff pretty
Her skirt is short but Lord her legs are sturdy
To walk to school she’s got to get up early
Her clothes are old but never are they dirty
Living just enough, just enough for the city

Her brother’s smart he’s got more sense than many
His patience’s long but soon he won’t have any
To find a job is like a haystack needle
‘Cause where he lives they don’t use colored people
Living just enough, just enough for the city

Living just enough for the city

His hair is long, his feet are hard and gritty
He spends his life walking the streets of New York City
He’s almost dead from breathing in air pollution
He tried to vote but to him there’s no solution

Living just enough, just enough for the city yeah, yeah, yeah!

I hope you hear inside my voice of sorrow
And that it motivates you to make a better tomorrow
This place is cruel no where could be much colder
If we don’t change the world will soon be over

Living just enough, just enough for the city!

Alicia Keys – The Gospel (Short Film)

[Intro: Method Man + Raekwon + Ghostface ]
Oh yeah, coming through with my Shaolin crew
Two cent for a case, gimme St. Ide’s brew
In the midst of broken bottles and crushed up cans
Methtical’s in a jam, oh how dry I am
With St. Ides in my system
Crack another I’m blessed, let’s go get the next one
And get over, the object is to stay sober
Lay on the sofa, better yet, dial my chauffeur
Call me the Wallabee Champ, stretched out, could never be Son
Ricochet daily hit the deli for a cold one
Naturally blessed, yes, my rap is like a laser beam
Laser beam, laser beam, laser beam…

    [Intro: Alicia Keys]
    Uh, yeah, okay
    Sing

    [Verse 1: Alicia Keys]
So we all got children, products of the ghetto
Momma cooked us soup, daddy did the yelling
Uncle was a drunk, cousin was a felon
When he got pitched, he told them he wasn’t tellin’
Auntie was a cook, her husband was a crook
Cause every job he had they be payin’ him off the books
Ghetto university, knowledge is all it took
In a tenement I was listenin’ to the hook
Change gon’ come, the spirit of Sam Cook
When the feds comin’, everybody get shook
Now we doin’ life like Eddie Murphy and Martin
On the chain gang, i was singing into the coffin

    [Pre-Chorus: Alicia Keys]
The roaches and the rats, heroin and the cracks
Couldn’t blame me, I’m just giving the facts
Tryna hit the top, the bottom ain’t where it’s at
Everybody got a past but you can never go back

    [Chorus: Alicia Keys]
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
    Sing
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (Sing)
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (Sing)
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (Sing)
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (Sing)

    [Verse 2: Alicia Keys]
Tellin’ you like it is, how we ever gon’ live?
If we ain’t gettin’ money, how we feedin’ the kids?
It’s a revolving door, where brothers be doin’ bids
I know it sound wrong but the door will be what it is
Survival of the fittest, this poor girl the illest
Broke parents and black cats give me heebie-geebies
Life seems hard but nothin’ ever comes easy
Whatever’s in the dark, can always become the light
If you ain’t in a battle, how you gon’ win the fight?
Gotta speak the truth when I’m up in the booth
The streets be flyin’ birds but they don’t be on the roof
Poverty is a pain like you pullin’ a tooth
Told the streets don’t let me go like I’m Bishop in Juice

    [Pre-Chorus: Alicia Keys]
The roaches and the rats, heroin and the cracks
Couldn’t blame me, I’m just giving the facts
Tryna hit the top, the bottom ain’t where it’s at
Everybody got a past but you can never go back

    [Chorus: Alicia Keys]
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
    Sing
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (yeah)
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (yeah)
    (Gotta sing)
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (yeah)
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (yeah)

    [Outro]
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
    (Sing)
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
    (Sing)
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
    (Gotta sing)
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
    (She’s a king)
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (yeah)
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (yeah)
And they sing New York City
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Lloyd Banks – Headache & Heartbreak (Halloween Havoc 3 Mixtape)

    [Intro]
    (Authentic)

    [Verse 1]
Fool dumb as the last nigga that got at me
Shot up with bags of D
Fresh out of LIU, welcome to Halloween Havoc 3
Turning my mileage in, the last time you’re seeing me back for free
Blood in my writing pen, hype again, striking methodically
    Honestly, can’t nobody see me
    I’m in stealth form, champion
Kept the belt on, bodies for trampling, never felt for ’em
I don’t got the time to hate, let alone put the words together
At-ing niggas and never get at ’em, this is purging weather
Stack up on your surgeon cheddar
You’re rat and reptilian merged together
Folks know the fire, penned in disturbing letter
Giants stomping holes in these tracks, keeping the road crumbling
Opps don’t got no choice but falling back, uneasy souls hovering
Here’s the soundtrack for the riders, progress keeps the loads coming
Dollars won’t divide us, we’re back to the gold thugging
Flaunting armor through your airwaves, drown ’em in stereo
Wonder what took so long to spot ’em, these clowns took over years ago

    [Hook]
Think so we’re done, I lied, I lost my mind
Product of heartbreak and the neighborhood never been the remorseful kind
Won’t see no handouts, you were forced to grind
Maybe you’re better off staying away, you’re (?), you cross the don
Make one mistake then knock you off your throne
I’m thinking, cutting and suffering, family hoping that you come back home
That man at work, don’t go disrupt his own
You on the wrong side of town for bitching, you belong with a sucker’s wrong

    [Verse 2]
This time of year it’s hard to sleep, better bullets and trucks of red
Competition uncomfortable, this the month I play pumpkin head
Field kicking this shit for years, hop off on your disgruntled leg
Any contact from these punches fell, victims and knuckles bled
They tell you foul shit about me, don’t deliver it
Lee on the other hand woulda got into it for hearing it
Formed in the room of trauma, no silence for this experiment
Hands of a super doctor, high tolerance, I ain’t feeling shit
Anticipate reviews of my resume in the hottest summers
Look at what they push now, (?) gimmicks and one hit wonders
Perform in an empty stu’, fendi crew with the gun slid under
Lightening to your family room, disrespecting the son of thunder
    Been here over (?) nigga
So for stomping daily, snap a monster picture
Blue and black from New York City’s hardest hitter
    Problem baby, born guerrilla
    Panic charms a killer
Chipped shoulder for soldiers that took me for granted, bombs delivered

    [Hook]
Think so we’re done, (?) lost my mind
Product of heartbreak and the neighborhood never been the remorseful kind
Won’t see no handouts, you were forced to grind
Maybe you’re better off staying away, you’re (?), you cross the don
Make one mistake then knock you off your throne

Alicia Keys – The Gospel (Here Deluxe Edition Album) letras

Cause every job he had they be payin’ him off the books
Ghetto university, knowledge is all it took
In a tenement I was listenin’ to the hook
Change gon’ come, the spirit of Sam Cook
When the feds comin’, everybody get shook
Now we doin’ life like Eddie Murphy and Martin
On the chain gang, i was singing into the coffin
